A place for the Work

I am happy to let you know that I now have a website! This has been something that I have been procrastinating about for years. I really hate the work involved and the tedious process of gathering assets that now stretch back decades. For years I kept saying to myself, “I’ll do it... I just have to sit down and do it.” It turns out that wasn’t going to happen.

This year I finally accepted that I wasn’t the right person for the job and decided to seek help from a professional. I worked with Sunny McGaw, whom I quickly discovered to be a dedicated and eternally positive collaborator with valuable experience in exactly those areas where I am lacking: marketing and web development. Thank you, Sunny, for all your hard work. I truly could not have done it without you.

We spent a long time exchanging ideas and figuring out how the website could become a genuine expression of my approach to art, teaching, and life. My instinct has always been to act from a place of authenticity rather than simply following the crowd. Sunny enthusiastically embraced that challenge, and together we built something that feels deeply personal rather than generic.

The two sections I am most excited about are Chronology and The Salon. We wanted a place where visitors could explore some of the major turning points in my life and artistic practice: moments of change, discovery, and transition. I began to think of the Chronology as chapters in the novel of my life. Looking back through old work, photographs, and memories was surprisingly rewarding, and each chapter now has a short story and a collection of images that mark that particular period.

I also wanted a more engaging way of presenting paintings that are available for purchase. The Salon allows you to view many of the works in a domestic setting, giving a much better sense of their scale and presence than isolated photographs ever could.

Finally, I had the pleasure of working with the wonderful photographer Jen Squires to create a new series of portraits. I have never been particularly comfortable in front of the camera, but Jen somehow made it possible for me to relax and simply be myself. Thank you, Jen.
